I started the wander by Broadway and Wall Streets. Trinity Church:
I headed down Wall Street. Federal Hall:
The New York Stock Exchange. I was lucky to get a tour when I visited New York for the first time in 1996. They don't give the tours anymore due to terrorism worries.
I wandered around the laberinth of streets just south of the stock exchange. This is from the corner of Beaver and S Williams Streets:
I headed south down Broadway toward Battery Park. Bowling Green and the old Customs House. Its now the National Museum of the American Indian. The museum is actually free, and the interior of the building is worth the trip in.
Looking south toward Battery Park:
The War Memorial with the sun setting behind me:
Statue of Liberty at sunset:
A live turkey seems to live in the park:
Shrine of St. Elizabeth stands out next to all the glass sky scrapers:
Pier A. There has been talk for years about renovating this building:

Battery Park City apartment towers:

Winter Garden at the World Financial Center
Canstruction is a design competition for engineers, architects and the like. Basically teams make models/sculptures entirely out of cans and at the end of the competition the cans are donated to charity. In 2008 the entries were on display in the Winter Garden. I don't have a clue who won, but I liked Snoopy, the Giant Panda and the swan:
